tag - one person is it, whoever is tagged becomes the new it

cumulative tag (monster) - one person is initially it and behaves like a monster, anyone tagged is now also it and should act like a monster, last person not it starts the next round as the initial it

big blob - like cumulative tag but all its hold hands and only the two free hands at the ends of "the blob" can tag others

small blobs - like big blob, but any blob of four people splits into two blobs of two people

hide and go seek - one person is it, others hide and then try to get back to the base while it looks for them, the first person tagged each round is it next round

hide and go seek, multiple its - like hide and go seek but all people tagged become its the next round

sardine tag - all but one person is it, that person hides, anyone who finds hiding place also hides there holding hands, first or last person to find the hiding place is next round's it

playing card tag - players on two teams, each team has people given cards ace/2/3/4/5/..., everyone it, if a tag happens the two players show each other their cards and player with lower number is out of the game until the round ends, first team to "capture" the other team's ace wins the round (I've also seen this variant done with stragtego pieces)

freeze tag - it freezes people, any non-it can unfreeze, game ends when all non-its are frozen, further variations for number of starting its

killer - everyone's name put in hat, draw names, repeat until no one has their own name, everyone it but only try to tag person whose name you have drawn, game ends in set time limit (10 minutes or so), played in a more confined space, in one nighttime variation of killer the tags happen not with touches but with flashlight flashes

super killer - like killer but when you tag someone you get their paper with the corresponding goal of a new person to tag

monster killer - papers put in hat, one paper has mark, that person is secretly it, like monster (and unlike killer) the its quietly spread throughout the population

freeze killer - start with one it secretly as in monster killer, but instead of tags making non-it another it the tags freeze the non-it as in freeze tag

freeze monster killer - like monster killer but two papers distinctly marked, player who receives first mark is freeze-it who freezes non-its, player who receives second mark is a monster-it who does not tag but touches the frozen non-its turning them into other freeze-its

pirates - two teams, each team has certain number of "shots" made from bit of flour wrapped in tissue and taped closed, everyone it, tag by hitting someone with "shot" so it breaks open, whichever team finds hidden "treasure" (handkerchief or something) first wins

capture the flag - like pirates, but each team hides/carries the "treasure" the other team needs to win

pickle - two bases, one it for each base, its throw a ball back and forth while all other players try to run back and forth from one base to the other, player tagged with the ball replaces the it who tagged him/her, runners gain prestige by making many runs back and forth between bases

firsbee tag - play with fewer frisbees than players, whomever a frisbee has last touched is obligated to make that frisbee touch someone else

T.V. tag - like tag but player is safe if sits down and says the name of a T.V. show that players have not said before; for older players try using symphony instruments, famous physicists, etc. as appropriate to your crowd
