There was a distinct trend in Japanese children’s games for the past several years. The nation's youth imagined a strange delight: collectable monsters that loved to fight each other. This was a trendy and profitable theme, ripe for a mad scientist such as himself to make a reality.
His machine...no, machine was too small a word...his monstrous apparatus was now complete. It was a shame that his rival, Dr. Stinkweed of Sapporo, had stolen a draft of his plans. But Dr. Stinkweed must be weeks behind in construction. Now all that stands between Dr. Manzanita and eternal fame is the pull of a large, metal lever!
Being fierce rivals, the two mad scientists decide to make the best of the situation. Dr. Manzanita decides fame must go hand-in-hand with infamy and orders his monsters to destroy Tokyo. The plot of so many fictional stories will come true!
Soon the two evil geniuses see each other's monsters as the world's news coverage is attracted to the crisis they have generated. A colossal battle of colorful, growing monsters begins!
The monsters are very active, and cause little trouble if allowed to run from city to city. But if delayed at a city they stomp about in frustration and cause great damage. True to the ideals of collectable monster games, the monsters enjoy fighting each other and grow in size with each victory. Moreover, the theme of collectable monster games also led the mad scientists to create three colors of monsters, each of which has an advantage against another.
The game is easy to learn and quick to play. Two playing boards are included: a chart makes learning the game simpler, while a map of Japan is prettier to use. There are numerous strategies, some of which will be discovered quickly by an adult player and others of which are more subtle.
